where there's nothing to do... all day long

Guided Tours in English / Tours in German (see below)

I am a Green Badge Tourist Guide for Orkney, that means I am specially qualified to guide visitors here. I live on Sanday, one of the smaller islands. Guiding coach parties regularly takes me to Kirkwall and this means that I am frequently also available to guide small parties, roughly on one day every week. The dates are found on my website.

All of Orkney is scenic, and a lot of it is associated with fascinating history and legend. Wild creatures are more abundant than in most places. I, in particular, encourage you to book me for an outing during the evening hours.

I encourage every tourist to strive to experience at least one of the smaller islands. Life really takes a special turn if you share it with just a few hundred fellow islanders. If you chose to come to Sanday, I would be delighted to guide you there. Get in touch. If we travel on the same Sanday / Kirkwall ferry, I might also share the journey with you and, at a very budget price plus a coffee, answer any number of questions or give you an introduction to Orkney in general or Sanday in particular.

Each of the smaller islands has its own idiosyncrasies. You will enjoy Sanday particularly if you like sandy beaches and the bird life that comes with them. Seals often can be seen and otters by the lucky ones.

This is what I can do with you:

• Tours in cars or minibuses as a step-on guide, ie you provide the transportation from Kirkwall or in Sanday
• Tour planning to meet your interests
• Guided walks in Kirkwall or Sanday
• Information chats on Orkney themes on the Kirkwall / Sanday ferry

Orkney past and present, nature and culture, work and fun.
I am a so called Green Badge Tourist Guide for Orkney. This means that I have received special training on anything that might be of interest to the Orkney topic. I live on Sanday, one of the smaller Orkney Islands. Guided tours for tourist buses take me to Kirkwall regularly and therefore I can also do private tours from Kirkwall for about one day a week. The dates can be found on my website. If in doubt, please contact me.
The Orkney landscape is impressive everywhere. There is a lot to tell about the past and in many places there are fascinating stories that have happened here. Birds, seals, wildflowers and other nature are more accessible here than elsewhere. I encourage you in particular to take the tours that I offer during the evening hours, when the other streams of visitors are already at dinner and quiet comes, but the sun is still in the sky.
I also advise every visitor to visit at least one of the smaller islands. Life is really different when shared with just a few hundred other islanders. If you visit us in Sanday, I offer you a guided tour here. Get in touch with me. If you coordinate your ferry trip with me (Sanday / Kirkwall), I can answer all your questions about Orkney in general and Sanday in particular as an inexpensive special service over a cup of coffee.
Each of the islands has its own characteristics. You will love Sanday especially if you like sandy beaches, complete with thousands of waders, seals, and (with a good pinch of luck) otters.
Here’s what I can do with you:
• Guided tours in cars or minibuses as a step-on guide, which means that you take care of the transport
• Tour planning so that the tour is specially tailored to your interests
• Guided walks in Kirkwall or Sanday
• Hole me on Orkney topics of your choice on the Kirkwall / Sanday ferry (and vice versa) or let me tell you something.
